25 NBA Predictions for the Upcoming Season
Zach Lowe just came out with his 30 NBA predictions for the upcoming season. While he stole a couple of mine, here are a few more. Some of these predictions are sure, others obvious, and some a little outrageous. I’d love to hear about your predictions for this upcoming season. Here are mine.
1-The Warriors, Spurs, Clippers, Jazz, Rockets, Blazers, Thunder, and Timberwolves will make the West Playoffs (in that order).
2-The Knicks will make the Playoffs and the Heat will not.
3-The Golden State Warriors will have the best record in the NBA and be the first team to ever have back-to-back 70 win seasons.
4-The Brooklyn Nets will have the worst record in the NBA.
5-The Houston Rockets and the Golden State Warriors will both shoot more threes than Houston’s all-time record of 2680.
6-James Harden will become the first player since Nate Tiny Archibald to average 30 points and 10 assists per game.
7-Brandon Ingram and Joel Embiid will finish 1-2 in the Rookie of the Year voting.
8-Ricky Rubio will be traded this year, when Timberwolves management sees that Kris Dunn is ready to take over the team.
9-Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant will engage in a war of words and a spectacular stretch of “anything you can do, I can do better,” both putting up insane numbers.
11-The Cavs will trade Kevin Love.
12-Lebron will lead the Cavs back to the Finals for his 7th straight trip to the Finals.
13-There will be no Lockout this season.
14-Paul George will lead all Eastern Conference scorers.
15-Derrick Rose will be proven wrong and the Knicks will NOT be a super-team. They will however, make the Playoffs.
16-The Utah Jazz will host a Playoff series, largely due to the top defense in the NBA.
17-Anthony Davis will have at least two injuries that will cause him to miss multiple games.
18-The Sacramento Kings will trade Rudy Gay and DeMarcus Cousins.
19-Danny Ainge will trade young assets and future picks for another veteran (Hayward, Love, Cousins, Millsap, Rubio) that will push Boston into the East Finals.
20-Dirk Nowitzki will pass Moses Malone and Dr. J to move into 6th place on the All-Time Scoring list and become just the 7th player in history to score 30,000 points.
21-Westbrook or Harden will win the scoring title, but both will average over 30 points per game, the first time since 2005-06 that multiple players averaged 30 or more.
22-Andre Drummond will top his career best mark from the free throw line this season and shoot better than 41.8%.
24-After winning the last two MVP trophies, Steph Curry will not finish in the Top 5 in the MVP voting this season.
25-For the first time in NBA history the same two teams will meet in the NBA Finals for three straight years. The Warriors will defeat the Cavs in the NBA Finals. Not even the Lakers and Celtics played against each other for the title in three straight years.
